Our Story
Deseret Experimental Opera Company (DEXO), founded in 2013 by Logan Hone, Jesse Quebbeman-Turley, and Luke Swenson, has produced 11 premier works: traditionally staged operas, short operas in strange venues, operas on moving bicycles, an installed opera and an improvised opera, and a rocking opera of rocks. DEXO strongly believes in forging a path for opera into the 21st century through egalitarian collaboration of an artistic collective from across disciplines through the medium of opera. By bringing together diverse specialists ranging from musicians to dancers to writers to actors, we strive for the age old goal of opera: a work greater than the sum of its parts.
Our Mission
is to create professional opportunities for local unestablished artists and to create original works for and about our Utah community.
Our Vision
is to create an infrastructure to facilitate an ever changing group of artists. The infrastructure will secure income streams, implement marketing strategies, reach out to various communities and bring awareness to DEXO’s artistic mission.
